Motivated for Success

There have been many changes in life lately. I have started a new job. Not just a "new job", but "a job" for that matter. I have been a full time momma and wife for so long, that carrying another title actually feels fantastic! So, adding full-time employment to being a full-time wife and mother, and full-time student.. life continues to be chaotic bliss!

I am loving life more and more every day. For awhile, I was not sure what we were going to do. Bills were piling up, faster than we could get them paid off. Being organized, and what we thought was financially stable turned into an upside down fiasco. Friends, or should I say those we held as friends, began to fade and eventually disappeared. Leaving us with family. Back to square one.

This is not as horrible as I am making it out to be, realizing that square one is where we needed to be. To simply humble ourselves is all we needed. Knowing that no matter how difficult and stressful our home situation became, we stayed strong together.

Though we are finally climbing out of this deep hole, life is still managing to throw curve balls. The trick this time is, we're catching them! I am no longer a victim of my lack of motivation. I am proud to be who I am, and proud of my family. We are not just going to survive, we are going to thrive abundantly.

New house, new running vehicles, new life..... here we come!

Acceptance

"Life is what happens to you
while you're busy making other plans."
John Lennon
(1940-1980)

We define life in many different ways. There are different elements that make up what we call "life". Not everyone has the same outlook, hope, dream, goal, moral, etc. when it comes to their definition of what life means to them.

I was reading one of my college text books, and found a quote from John Lennon that really hit home. He states very simply that "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans.". I stopped, leaned back in my chair, and thought about this for a few minutes. Trying to apply this to my own everyday function. I realized how true this in my application of life, and many who I encounter on a regular basis.

Life is constantly happening. While we are working, eating, sleeping, out with friends, cuddling with the kiddos. Whatever it is that you are doing, life is still taking place everywhere around us. This is such an obvious concept, I am sure this is why I have not given it much thought.

I am at a point in my life where so many things are hectic, chaotic, and stressful. I have been practicing more forms of time and stress management, however, I can always use more guidance! =) I think instead of worrying about the future, I need to plan. Accept what current state I am in for what it is and learn from how I ended up here. Tomorrow is in fact a new day, though it is not promised to me.

The important thing for me to do is to make time for my family. Let them know I love them, and appreciate them. We only get one shot at this adventure of life. I chose to accept the challenge, and strive for the best..

The Imagination of Children

Candid moments are definitely my favorite!

Is it not amazing, the mind of a child? As a mother of four, I am blessed to be able to observe imagination at it's finest!  With an equal balance of boys vs. girls, life is never dull nor boring.

Sitting in a corner pretending to be preoccupied with a book, I observe these four individuals. Nothing entertains me more than listening to what they have to say. From simple mispronounced words, to off the wall made up phrases and scenarios.

Oh, to be a child again. To be in a stage where life does not seem so impossible. To completely absorb information and be able to retain it! The understanding that everything has a starting point, as it has an end. What goes up, must in fact come down.

As a human being our beginning is in the womb, as an infant, a child. Life really begins to develop and take form by the age of three. This has always fascinated me. Three years seems to go by so fast, how is that enough time to ensure our children know all the basics? Crazy enough, it generally is just enough. After three, they begin to gain independence. Ready to learn on their own, discover and create.

I believe these are few of the many reasons I have chosen to follow my dream in becoming a Child Psychologist. This is just the beginning for me, but my end is not coming soon. The journey is long and I am already traveling in the right direction!

I look forward to sharing this trip with you.. =)
